during the youth lagoon show, it occurred to me that i might be getting too old for some concerts. the audience was really young (there were these two little girls in front of me who were really drunk - how do you enjoy a show when you're that shit faced?), but the music was pretty good. can't really remember the first band, but the second opening act,
porcelain raft, was catchy. these two dudes kept switching up their instruments (i totally love it when musicians do this!). after the show, i passed by their merch table and the drummer/keyboardist was selling some of his photo prints on postcards (check out his site: catapult-wallace.tumblr.com). i bought a bunch to send via snail mail to friends.
youth lagoon (aka trevor powers) performed with his friend (totally can't remember his name). trevor is adorable -- he has floppy hair, wears oversized t-shirts and could totally pass for a high schooler (but he's actually 22 or 23). the duo put on a decent show. hm, 'decent' is so vague. what i mean is: on a scale from 1 to 10, they were about a 6. their presence wasn't particularly energetic and there weren't any differences/[good]deviations from what's on 'year of hibernation', so y'know -- it was a lot like listening to the CD on my laptop.
ha!, those last few lines make me sound mildly grumpy. again, i might be getting too old for shows? meh.
